Bye Bye Privacy - Twitterers are going to be very searchable, cos twitter tweaked page titles for better SEO

Titles are important in optimizing traffic and thats why twitter tweaked its pages (mainly the way titles are displayed) to better perform for search engine searches. It'll get listed in search result pages easier, bringing more searchers on search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Altavista to users / celebrities / news / groups on Twitter.

CNET article explains about 'Twitter tweaks page titles, breaks out on Google' it meant, twitter pages aka twitter user profile pages appear easier during searches. be it a person, a company or online news. ZDNet mentions, search results would probably rank tops for Twitter.

I smell something.

and that's privacy out the window.
Its so easy to type anybody's name and get results leading to their facebook profile - but that's fine cos they have a 'private' option and the most you get would be their profile's thumbnail picture and that's it.

Following Don Reisinger, the writer for the article at CNET, i did my search.

it ranks number 9 (it could have ranked 1st but i've too many things on the net with that name. for this, i don't mind. but what if your twitter was private between friends?)

Tentatively on Twitter, there's no privacy feature. (my boo boo)
if you've got a profile picture & a website listed, all those crap you wrote in 140words are well, blasted to the world - unless this is checked. but that's just for the updates 'AFTER' its enabled. those prior would be shown. profile picture + website + status would still be displayed.

~ check that and below would be what you see.

Twitter, time to add something similar in Blogger 'do you wish to be included in search engines?' could be an extra feature but..

Oh yes, they have started 'beta' testing of including text ads on profile pages (article on Guardian.co.uk - its fairly subtle.
